Initial launch of two new free releases from Yamaha – the Yamaha Console File Converter and M7CL Version 3.5 – will take place at Yamaha’s booth (Hall4 / 4312) at Inter BEE 2010, with actual release scheduled for this winter. Inter BEE is an international showcase for professional broadcast, video, audio, and lighting equipment, as well as support software and media solutions. This year’s show will take place from November 17 to 19 at the Makuhari Messe exhibition centre in Chiba, Japan.

“We are delighted to be able to launch the Yamaha Console File Converter and M7CL Version 3.5 update at this year’s Inter BEE show,” says Kazunori Kobayashi, general manager of Yamaha’s pro audio division. “The Yamaha Console File Converter will make it possible to transfer data between our main consoles, while the M7CL Version 3.5 update adds a number of important features that requested from our valuable customers. We encourage our users to experience the newly improved operability provided by M7CL Version 3.5. This is just one more step in our ongoing quest to give our customers what they really need based on feedback from the field.”

Yamaha Console File Converter

The Yamaha Console File Converter is a software application that coverts between PM5D and M7CL, and between M7CL and LS9 console file formats, providing data compatibility between these consoles. A PM5D or LS9 can be brought in to replace an M7CL, for example, using the mixing data that was originally created on the M7CL. The Yamaha Console File Converter provides long-awaited data compatibility for PM5D, M7CL, and LS9 users.

Features
- Converts between PM5D and M7CL, and between M7CL and LS9 file formats.
- Converts parameters for multiple scenes (including HA and Ch Name).
- Parameters that exist on the target console but not on the source console are set to their default values.
- Three conversion options.
- Windows and Mac versions: the Windows version will be released first, closely followed by the Mac version.

M7CL Version3.5

M7CL Version 3.5 offers a number of new features and functions that add to the appeal of Version 3, providing improved workflow, faster response time, and generally enhanced operation in a wide range of situations.

New Features and Functions

M7CL Console:
New alternate functions for the Selected Channel added.
The new functions can be assigned to User Defined Keys for even greater efficiency.

HA Remote signal output from Slot 1 (M7CL-48ES only).
In addition to three SB168-ES stage boxes connected via the console’s Ethernet ports, up to three additional SB168-ES units can be connected via MY16-ES64 and MY16-EX cards installed in the expansion slots.

MIX Pre/Post status now shown in the Overview display.
Colour coding makes the MIX status clear: “Pre” when the knob marking is white, and “Post” when black.

Simultaneously press [SEL] keys to show the Channel Link window.
This shortcut was provided on previous Yamaha digital mixers, so it will be familiar to operators who have experience with Yamaha consoles.

The PEQ “Q” parameter value now goes up to 16.
Compared to the previous limit of 10, this allows even more detailed response shaping using the parametric EQ.

Instant switch between shelving/peaking by pushing and rotating the PEQ “Q” knob.
Faster, more intuitive operation than the previous method of switching between shelving and peaking response via the display.

SUBNET MASK range extended to 255.0.0.0.
This allows Studio Manager connection from a separate network.

M7CL V3 Editor

Output Port Setting window added.
Output Port settings could previously only be made from the console. Now they can be made from the M7CL V3 Editor as well.

Mix -> Matrix control now possible in Sends on Fader mode.

Mix Name display provided in the Selected Channel window.

Added shortcut functions:
- Right click to switch Post/Pre for all MIX Sends.
- Double-click in the Dynamics or EQ area of the Overview display to open the Selected Channel window.

TAB to move to the next entry field.

And more …
